oils+fats,
the International Trade Fair for the Production and Processing of Oils and Fats
Made from Renewable Resources, will open its gates at the M,O,C, in Munich for the second time
from November 18 – 20, 2008. At present, approximately 70 of the industry's
leading manufacturers from 15 countries have registered for the fair. oils+fats
meets the highest international standards, a fact reflected by the increased share
of international exhibitors (about 40 percent). The amount of exhibition space
is also higher than last year, having increased to 3,000 m².
oils+fats showcases
the entire process used to produce and further process oils and fats made from
renewable resources at a single platform. The extensive range of exhibits,
which covers everything from auxiliary materials, plants and machinery to
quality control and logistics, has generated a great deal of demand both in Germany
and abroad.
According
to Norbert Bargmann, Managing Director at Munich
International Trade Fairs, "We created an interesting niche market when we
established oils+fats. The large share of international exhibitors from four
continents shows us that oils+fats is a communications platform for the global

The program of
related events at oils+fats in English and German gives qualified visitors
first-hand information on topics of relevance to the oils and fats industry.
The first day of
the fair will examine the topic of "Oils and Fats Made from Renewable
Resources and the Conflicting Priorities of Food versus Energy" in a panel
discussion titled "Enough for Everyone: Fact or Fiction?" The panel
discussion will be moderated by Dr. Jörg Eggers, Deputy Managing Director of OVID, which represents the
interests of oilseed-processing companies in Germany. Panel members include Dr. Axel Berg, Deputy
Energy Policy Speaker of the SPD Bundestag fraction, Andreas Pilzecker,
Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development, European Commission,
Dr. Edgar Remmele, Director of the
Standards and Quality Assurance Division of the Technology
and Support Center in the Competence Center for Renewable Resources in
Straubing, and Günter Simon, Managing Director of Harburg-Freudenberger
Maschinenbau GmbH.
The DGF (German
Society for Fat Science) is holding training courses (in German) on Stabilizing Lipids in Food and Modifying Fats and Oils.
The Federal Association of Decentralized Oil Mills is holding
a series of seminars to inform visitors and interested visitors about culinary-oil sensors, storing rapeseed and
rape cake and tax-related aspects of
the production and sale of vegetable oil. A series of practical short courses in English on the
first two days of the fair will examine topics such as Advanced Edible Oil Refining & Processing: Case Studies and Trouble
Shooting and Biodiesel: Market
Trends, Chemistry & Production.
On November 20, everything will revolve around the Industrial Uses of Vegetable Oils: Biodiesel, Ink, Solvents, Lubricants
and Bio-Plastics (Organizer: ID&A Ignace Debruyne & Associates VOF and
Filtration and Membrane World LLC).

About oils+fats 2008 oils+fats is being held at the M,O,C, Event Centre in Munich from November 18 – 20, 2008. It is the
