Along with Automatica and Maintain, oils+fats underscores yet again Munich International Trade Fairs' expertise and innovative potential for developing new events within a period of just three years

oils+fats, the International Trade Fair for the Production and Processing of Oils and Fats made from Renewable Resources, will celebrate its premiere from November 20 – 22, 2007. Experts and decision-makers from the oils and fats industry will meet at the M,O,C, Event Centre this autumn to gather information about the latest trends and technological developments, covering everything from raw and auxiliary materials to processing, quality assurance, packaging and logistics.

oils+fats has a brand new concept, but the fair's subject matter is based on Eurolipids, an exhibition that was held once in Frankfurt in 2005 but was then canceled. oils+fats is being held in Munich for the first time, and it is being organized in conjunction with the European Federation for the Science and Technology of Lipids (Euro Fed Lipid), the fair's conceptual sponsor.

oils+fats gives the rapidly growing oils and fats industry an international platform. Oils and fats made from renewable resources – whether used in foodstuffs, as fuel or to manufacture a variety of different products – are a rapidly growing market, the significance of which continues to increase. This is confirmed by recent developments such as increasing demand and consumption, changing legal parameters or the expansion of production and processing capacities around the world. For example, according to Oil World – ISTA Miele GmbH, an independent information platform for the oils and fats industry, consumption of oils and fats increased from some 125 million tons in 2003/2004 to a record level of some 144 million tons in 2005/2006, an increase of 17 percent. Demand for the most important oil seeds also continues to increase. Oil World, for example, reported an average increase of four percent – from approximately 364 tons to an estimated 379 tons – from the year 2004/2005 to 2005/2006.

Growing health awareness among the general public, stricter quality and environmental-protection standards, a shortage of fossil fuels and resulting government support for alternative energy sources such as biodiesel are causing a sharp increase in the consumption of vegetable and animal oils and fats.

By establishing oils+fats, Munich International Trade Fairs is bringing together the expertise and economic strength that is needed to give the oils and fats industry an optimum forum. oils+fats is the only international trade show that focuses on the production and processing of oils and fats. It covers everything from raw and auxiliary materials to processing, quality assurance, packaging and logistics. It examines current trends and informs visitors about the latest technological developments. That makes oils+fats the most important industry gathering for experts and decision-makers in the oils and fats industry.

About the M,O,C, Event Center
The M,O,C, is Munich International Trade Fairs’ successful event center. It features showrooms, exhibition halls and conference rooms on a total of 30,000 square meters of space. The thing that makes the M,O,C, unique is its open exhibition concept: there are 60 rooms arranged around an atrium bathed in light that can be used for seminars or as additional presentation space.
